Social Media News / July 2025

Hey there,

So much is happening on social media right now, and if it’s feeling hard to keep up, you’re not alone. We’ve rounded up this month’s biggest updates to keep you in the loop and ahead of the curve 🫶

From Instagram’s new “post directly to grid” feature giving you more control over your profile, to its latest move, making public content searchable on Google, the platforms are switching things up in a big way. At the same time, AI keeps levelling up, powering smarter tools behind the scenes. And in exciting news, we’re thrilled to welcome Comvita to our client family 🍯

Here’s what’s new, what’s next, and how to make the most of it for your brand.

Post Without the Pressure: Instagram’s New Quiet Grid Update

Instagram is dropping a game-changing update: the ability to post quietly to your grid. No feed, no notifications, just clean curation ✨

With the new “Post directly to profile” toggle, you will be able to upload straight to your grid without alerting your followers in their feeds. It’s perfect for refining your aesthetic, soft-launching new content, or sharing something personal without the pressure of instant likes or comments.

This update signals a shift toward more intentional storytelling, giving creators and brands more flexibility to shape how their profile looks without having to worry about algorithms or engagement in real time. It’s your space – build the vibe you want people to see when they land on your page.

For businesses and brands, this is a huge creative unlock. Whether you’re posting a set of visuals that work together as a series, updating your grid for campaign storytelling, or uploading content purely for aesthetic cohesion. You no longer have to worry about how each individual post performs in-feed or how it might confuse your audience out of context. You can now focus on the big picture, using your grid as a curated, visual storefront that reflects your brand at its best.

While Adam Mosseri, head of Instagram, says the feature may evolve as they iterate over the next few months, this move is already a win for those who value control, curation, and creativity. Your grid just became a more personal portfolio, and for brands, a smarter one too. We’re looking forward to it launching!

AI Is Revolutionising Social Media for Your Business

From automated ad tools to dynamic content creation, AI is now baked into how social platforms function, and it’s changing the game for businesses online. Whether you’re looking to streamline your social media efforts 🚀 or elevate your content, the latest AI updates are opening new doors.

Here’s what’s rolling out across the platforms.

Instagram Updates

  • AI-Powered Edits App Tools: Instagram’s Edits app is stepping up its game with AI-powered features like still image animation, smarter cropping, and collaborative editing – super helpful if you’re editing on the go!

Facebook Updates

  • AI Ad Automation & Image-to-Video Tools: Meta’s new AI tools can build entire ad campaigns from just a product image and budget, automatically generating text, visuals, and targeting in a few clicks.
  • AI Photo Suggestions: Facebook’s new tool requests access to your camera roll (again, opt-in) to generate custom recaps and collage content. This gives us a window into how personalised AI features may evolve.
  • All Videos Now Reels: From now on, any video uploaded to Facebook (excluding livestreams) is automatically published as a Reel. It’s a subtle but important move toward platform-wide content consistency.

TikTok Updates

AI Seller Assistant: For eCommerce brands, TikTok’s chatbot delivers real-time performance tips and content ideas.

Image to Video & Text to Video: Turn static content or text prompts into platform-ready clips in seconds.

Showcase Products with Digital Avatars: Add a human(ish) face to your product demos and app walkthroughs.

Sustainability Tracking: TikTok now helps advertisers calculate campaign emissions, supporting eco-conscious strategy.

Instagram Just Got Search-Savvy

Instagram is about to get a whole lot more searchable 👀 Since July 10th, professional accounts (that’s Creator and Business profiles) can opt in to have their public content indexed by Google, meaning your posts, Reels, videos, carousels, and captions can show up directly in search results. It’s a major shift for the platform and for your brand’s visibility beyond the app.

This update essentially turns every public post into a potential SEO asset. Whether you’re launching a product, showcasing a campaign, or just building brand presence, your Instagram feed can now work double time, on social andin search.

For businesses and brands, this opens up huge potential for discoverability, especially as search behaviour evolves. With more people using Google to explore lifestyle content, trends, and local brands, this update lets your visual content show up right where they’re looking.

Here’s what you need to know:

➡️ It’s opt-in, so head to your Instagram settings to enable indexing.

➡️ Only public, professional accounts are eligible. Personal and private profiles are excluded.

➡️ Content from January 2020 onward is eligible for indexing.

➡️ Stories and DMs won’t be indexed, just grid content.

So, what does this mean for your brand?

It means Instagram is no longer just a social platform. It’s now a discoverable channel in Google’s search ecosystem, giving you a fresh chance to connect with new audiences and extend your reach far beyond the feed.
