Social Media News / August 2025

Kia Ora there,

Another month, another wave of fresh updates and we’re here for it 🙌 From new features dropping to game-changing tools rolling out, August has been serving up plenty of talking points. This month we’re diving into Instagram’s big Live update (yep, the 1k follower rule is here 👀), Facebook’s smarter copyright checks, and Insta’s shiny new repost button 🔁 And because we love a good glow-up story, we’re also sharing how we’ve been working with our newest client, Juice Up 🍓 to turn their socials into something as bold and vibrant as their açaí 🥣

So grab a cuppa ☕️ get comfy, and let’s jump into the latest in social 👇

New Rules: Instagram Live Now Needs 1,000 Followers

Instagram has quietly tightened its Live feature, and the bar is higher than before. Only public accounts with at least 1,000 followers can now go Live. If your following falls short, the “Go Live” button disappears and you’ll see a reminder instead. For businesses already over the threshold, this shift could mean a cleaner, more engaging Live space 👀🔥 with less noise to compete against. For those still growing, it’s an extra push to focus on building community and hitting that 1k milestone before tapping into the power of real-time connection 🚀🤝

Publish with Peace of Mind with Facebook’s New Copyright Check

Facebook has updated its copyright checking system for creators and brands, making it easier to catch potential issues before your video goes live 🙌 Through Meta Business Suite, uploads are automatically scanned for copyright claims, giving you a clear picture of any impacts before you hit publish. If a match is found, you’ll see what it means for your content whether that’s:

💰 Ad revenue redirected to the rights holder
🤝 Opportunities for revenue sharing
🌍 Visibility limited in certain regions
🎵 Audio muted
🔗 Ownership attribution applied

For businesses and brands, this update means fewer unexpected hurdles after publishing and more control over how your content is managed. You can choose to adjust your video, dispute the claim, or publish as is, ensuring your campaigns run smoothly, stay compliant, and keep your brand’s content strategy stress-free ✨

Instagram’s New Repost Button Is Here

Instagram has just made it easier than ever to share the content you love with its new Repost feature 🔁 You can now repost any public Reel or feed post directly to your followers’ feeds. No screenshots, no awkward workarounds. Reposts also live in their own tab on your profile 📂 so you can keep track of everything you’ve shared and revisit it any time.

For creators, this is a big win. If your content gets reposted, it could reach an entirely new audience, even if they don’t follow you yet 👀 For brands, it’s a fresh way to spark organic reach 🚀 encouraging your community to share your posts 🔥 or curating user-generated content that perfectly matches your brand’s style. Simple, seamless, and all about connection 🤝

Juice Up x Mosh: From Sweet Treats to Sweet Feeds

We recently teamed up with Juice Up (the first to bring açaí to NZ) to give their socials the glow up they deserved. They already had the good vibes, but things were missing that extra flair ✨ So, we jumped in to help bring it all together 💫

From building a clear content strategy to aligning their copy and creative, we brought their fun, colourful 🌈 brand to life across Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok. With fun visuals, monthly giveaways 🎁 and a regular posting plan, Juice Up’s socials are as bold and vibrant as their açaí 🥣

And that’s a wrap for this round! 🙌 Thanks for hanging out with us. Keep doing your thing, and we’ll be back soon with more inspo, updates, and all the good vibes 💫
