Hey there,
Welcome back to all you Mosh stans. Not to sound like a simp but we are high-key happy to have you here – no cap. It’s time for our social media vibe check and tbh this month just hits different. We’re talking about the future of the internet: AI, more AI, a dash of Twitter and yup you may have guessed it… Gen Z.
Social Media Marketing To Gen Z
So we may know that they kinda rule the internet but are we appreciating the true buying potential of Gen Z?
The reality is they represent a spending power of at least $140 billion – and that number will only keep rising. So it’s safe to say that more businesses should start taking this generation a little more seriously and look at ways to adapt their marketing to suit these internet natives. But how exactly do we do that whilst staying authentic and true to our brand?
In case you missed this blog, let’s look back at a few factors on how we can create fun, engaging content that they’ll love.
Chat GPT Gets a Glow Up
We’re sure you’ve become accustomed with your Chat GPT by now and if you haven’t then crawl out from under that rock and give it a go! The AI chatbot is quickly becoming a trusty sidekick. From emails and captions to newsletters just like this one. Kidding not this one, this was written the old fashioned way. No, not quill and ink… finger and keyboard.
Anyway, Chat GPT 3 (the current version) is upgrading to Chat GPT 4. It can process up to 25,000 words which is about eight times as many as Chat GPT 3, it can handle more nuanced instructions but interestingly it can also process images.
What a time to be alive, aye?
The Robots Are Taking Over!!!
For years, sci-fi movies have filled us with fear over the looming threat of robots taking over and stealing our jobs. What the movies didn’t mention however, was just how truly helpful and well mannered (we see you Chat GPT) the robots would be in the process! So come on in, take a seat, we’re happy to have you!!!
Google has announced that they will be embedding AI as a ‘collaborative partner’ for Workspace throughout the year. From replying on Gmail and brainstorming in Docs through to auto-generated images and videos for Slides it looks like AI features will be threaded across all areas of Workspace.
Designed to help and rewrite rather than doing it completely, the features promise to keep users in control. Suggestions will come with accept, edit or change and there will also be the option for IT departments to set policies for specific organisations.
So it looks like yes, AI is taking over but you know what… let it!
Turns out we’re a sucker for useful robots that remember their manners… we’re looking at you, Clippy!🖕📎
Musk You Do That?!
Twitter’s defining factor has long been the fact that it’s short form. It’s why we love it. Short and snappy. We’ve seen the original limit climb from 140 characters up to 280, then Twitter Notes were introduced with a 2,500 word limit which was described as more of a blog post directly for the platform. But, the next move in Planet Twitter is the wildly over the top limit of TEN THOUSAND CHARACTERS…???
It’s another thing to add to the long, long list of changes Musk has made that have shook the foundations (and values!!) of the platform to its core. Elon Musk made the announcement of this long form extension as a reply to a tweet from the CEO of The Startup asking for code blocks for tweets. His reply has gained 7,894 Likes and 439 retweets so maybe those who are left on the platform aren’t as outraged as those of us who are slowly backing away from the mess that now is Twitter.
The long form and the mayhem is really giving Reddit energy wouldn’t you agree? We miss the good old days.
After years in the social game, we’ve learnt a thing or two along the way, and we’re keen to share our digital wisdom! We’ve created a series of customisable modules. Whether you’re new to the gig and need to learn it all, or have been around these parts a while and have discovered a gap in your knowledge, come along and have a lesson on all things social! Check out all of our options here or get in touch for details.
And that’s a wrap for this month, consider the vibes suitably checked. We’ve loved having you here. If we’ve left your head spinning with all this chat of the future then get out and enjoy some autumn sun. We look forward to seeing you next month with more from the crazy old world of socials. Hehe bye ✌️
The Mosh Crew.
